Local Government is most genuine expression of Democracy

It was thus that the City of Peterborough celebrated the Day of Local Government, which is Nov. 26 indicates, throughout the country.

Berta Cabral sat at the table with householders of various ages and various sensitivities, not only to provide them with accounts of what this administration has done by the local county Azores, but also to answer your questions and centralize the dialogue in their concerns.

The mayor of Ponta Delgada focused on the proximity to people, this was not the most significant feature of Local Government, City Hall and City Hall.

At a time when the development and progress mark the step, Berta Cabral acknowledged that the requirement for individuals is greater, as are major financial constraints of municipalities.

However, he said that under those circumstances, has been the Local Government what else has matched the aspirations of the people, what else has contributed to the development of the country, but also what else has been sacrificed in the name of economic stability .

It is for this, that the Mayor of Ponta Delgada who is also President of Amra, says that the country owes much to the Local Government, "by how much, with the same limited resources allocated" by continuing to be the expression more genuine democracy and the ability of enterprising citizens, which in Ponta Delgada, has been manifested in a concerted action of social, economic and territorial.

Within society, the Board entered into education, and recovered 7 schools, where the pipeline is in the improvement of 6 more schools, has already built over 1,000 homes, has created more than two dozen ATLs, research programs and conviviality to support the elderly and became active partner of IPSS.

On the economic side the municipality of Ponta Delgada has contributed to infrastructure development, such as the Azores Park, the business park of Valados or road-building strategies.

In territorial terms, there is the strong investment in accessibility, in car parks and goes further, in environmental terms, with the Urban Park, the garden city to ensure the sustained development of Ponta Delgada.

Berta Cabral has no doubt that the Local Government has also a say in tackling the crisis: "We are already going beyond the contribution that others have made, but we can help at the bureaucracy of municipal services and maintenance of good management practices, "finalized.
